Rosslyn Chapel

Scotland
Project Resources

Located in the Scottish countryside only seven miles from the city centre of Edinburgh, Rosslyn Chapel is a uniquely beautiful Gothic church. Built in the mid-15th century, the Chapel was constructed almost entirely of stone with no structural timber. The unique carvings of the Chapel have been the subject of much speculation and conjecture due to interspersed Christian symbolism and many other references. Rosslyn Chapel is thought to be only part of what was intended to be a much larger church, and it exhibits immense historic, architectural and cultural value. The extent of carved stonework both internally and externally makes this little chapel truly unique.
