Saint-Trophime

France
Project Resources

One of the oldest and most stunning Romanesque structures in the world, the pilgrimage church of Saint-Trophime in Arles holds a cherished and vital place in the living history of Provence. A magnificent bell tower looms over the church's western portal and monastic cloister, both repositories for some of the finest relief sculpture of the Romanesque and early Gothic periods found in all of France. This monument was documented with 3D laser scanners and HD photography as part of a decades-long international effort led by World Monuments Fund to preserve the church as a valuable example of Medieval Christian iconographic and architectural achievement.
